Brendan Smith - Executive Chef

Brendan Smith has spent the last decade focused on memorable events. His cuisine—featuring a range of classical and global touches—has wowed guests at some of Philadelphia’s biggest occasions, including the 2,500-person opening of the Kimmel Center and Oprah’s acceptance of the Marian Anderson Award. Prior to that, Brendan spent two years in the kitchens of the United Nations, where he cooked for numerous heads of state (including our past three presidents), and apprenticed under three and four-star chefs from around the world. He also spent time at the Academy of Music, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and, most recently, as executive chef at Smith & Wollensky.

Brendan is renown for his versatility, offering a wide variety of classical and modern dishes based on local, seasonal ingredients. He employs styles and techniques from around the world — from a la plancha to sous-vide to sushi. He is also the chef and owner of *smiths restaurant | lounge, a popular neighborhood bistro and “gourmet sports bar” on 19th Street in Philadelphia.
